Designed by Konstantinos Zves, Alaska Café Bar reinterprets the notion of a compact social venue, operating as a carefully crafted tiny event space where materiality and atmosphere play a central role in shaping the visitor experience.

The lighting design was developed in close dialogue with the architectural concept, which combines marble, cork, and metal elements into a refined and highly tactile interior. Particular emphasis was placed on the central and perimeter marble counters, for which a series of custom-made luminaires were specifically designed. Emerging directly from the countertop surfaces, these bespoke fixtures were conceived as an extension of the architecture itself, appearing to grow organically from the material rather than being applied as separate objects.

Their minimal geometry, carefully selected finishes, and understated presence reinforce the project's contemporary aesthetic while providing intimate and focused illumination. To balance the inherent coolness of marble and metal surfaces, warm decorative wall lighting was introduced throughout the space, adding visual comfort and creating a welcoming atmosphere during both daytime and evening operation.

The architectural lighting scheme further includes accent spotlights highlighting artworks and textured cork surfaces, discreet linear lighting integrated within the bar area, carefully framed entrance illumination, and dedicated lighting solutions for the restroom spaces. Through the interplay of accent, ambient, and decorative lighting, the project establishes a layered visual experience that enhances material textures, reinforces spatial hierarchy, and supports the venue's transformation from a daytime café into an intimate evening gathering space.

The overall lighting strategy seeks not only to illuminate the architecture but to become an integral component of its identity, strengthening the dialogue between light, material, and human interaction.
