Periscope Hotel, located in Athens’ Kolonaki district, reimagines a 1950s structure as an urban observation vessel — a vertical container of “periscopic” views over the city. The renovation maintained the original concrete frame, introducing clean lines, industrial textures, and an atmosphere of calm precision.

In the 2016 redesign, light became the central medium of transformation. The ground floor lounge was conceived as an immersive underwater environment, with projections, filtered blue light, and concealed luminaires shaping a dynamic, ever-changing space. Lighting interacts with texture and movement, revealing volumes only through presence and use.

Across the interior, surfaces act as reflectors and luminaires, guiding the visitor through subtle transitions of mood and hierarchy. The illuminated Periscope logo extends this language outward — merging function and identity into one architectural gesture.
